GeniCore U-FAST (SPS) Hybrid

A Revolution in Large Diameter Spark Plasma Sintering

GeniCore’s U-FAST Hybrid sinters larger parts than conventional SPS by combining two different heat sources in one unit. The current pulses that enable spark plasma sintering can only maintain the necessary uniform current density in parts with a cross-sectional diameter of up to about 100 millimeters. Above that size, the current density becomes irregular. To compensate for the irregular current density, the U-FAST Hybrid applies induction heating concurrent with the SPS current pulses to achieve efficient, rapid, and high-quality sintering of parts up to 200 millimeters across.

Available configurations:

Dual-Chamber Hybrid System:

Larger parts require longer cooling times, often longer even than the sintering time. To reduce process cycle times, the U-FAST Hybrid offers an optional Continuous Sintering Process (CSP), with a separate cooling chamber and water-chilled graphite molds to enable rapid part cooling that does not delay the sintering cycle time.

Shortest pulses on the market:

The U-FAST Hybrid’s power supply is engineered to deliver current pulses up to 60kA, with precisely controlled pulse duration and spacing, offering unmatched control over the sintering process.

The fully automated vacuum door offers easy access to the SPS chamber, and when configured with the optional automated loading system, offer unprecedented production rates.

Automated loading system:

A fully automated vacuum door provides access to the sintering chamber, significantly boosting machine productivity, especially when configured alongside an automated loading system. To simplify cleaning, the vacuum chambers are designed with minimal inside corners and crevices.

Induction Heating

Induction heating, as a secondary power source, guarantees uniform temperature distribution across the materials, essential for high-quality sintering. The machine’s AC generator, capable of delivering 350kW, maximizes efficiency. The induction coil’s feedthrough design ensures consistent, symmetrical heating to minimize part distortion during sintering.

The U-FAST Hybrid machine showcases GeniCore’s pivotal role in the evolution of sintering technology. By emphasizing innovative cooling strategies, combination heating sources, precise power management, and automation features, the U-FAST Hybrid is poised to significantly impact the possibilities of composite material production in both known and yet-to-be-discovered applications.
