Electron Beam (EB) Hearth Melting Vacuum Furnace

Electron Beam Melting offers efficient energy transfer in an ultra-high vacuum hearth.

Retech Electron Beam (EB) Hearth Melting systems are outfitted with electron beam guns from Von Ardenne, the worldwide leader in Electron Beam technology. They are often configured similarly to PAM furnaces, with dual drum feeders, C-shaped hearths, and dual withdrawal chambers for continuous production.

Retech Electron Beam (EB) Hearth Melting furnaces are often configured similarly to PAM furnaces, with dual drum feeders, C-shaped hearths, and dual withdrawal chambers for continuous production.

Retech EB furnaces are never cookie-cutter designs, but some common features include:

  • C-shaped cold copper hearth for superior high- and low-density inclusion removal
  • Yields clean, as-cast metals that meet or exceed strictest purity standards (GE)
  • Melt reactive and refractory metals in sealed vacuum chamber
  • Eliminate the need for electrode welding and primary vacuum arc remelting
  • Can be designed for a wide range of capacities, from a few pounds to several tons
  • Custom engineered to match customer slab/ingot sizes and production requirements
  • Configurable with Single or multiple EB guns, feed systems, and withdrawal chambers
  • Mid-process sample extraction
  • Capable of higher throughput and larger ingots than PAM
